Southern Hemisphere’s largest electrode boiler using 100% renewable energy, Open Country installed a13MW electrode boiler in Awarua. Through this project, it has become a driving force in leading environmentally sustainable change in the dairy sector.

The boiler is:

1. The largest electrode boiler installed in the Southern Hemisphere.

2. The first time in the world an electrode boiler is being used by a dairy company for the purpose of primary steam supply to a large milk powder dryer.

3. A new technology that gives Open Country the ability to heat cold water to full steam in less than five minutes, compared to six hours with traditional coal-powered boilers.
