Our electrode boilers are continuously evolving to ensure we are on the leading edge of this techknowlogy. Improvements in our designs now allow for turn down as low as 2%. The development of a specialised insulator bushing for high pressure boiler applications now allows for design pressures up to 41.5 bar. More than 45 electrode boilers have now been manufactured and installed by our partners in this technology.
Our electrode boilers are manufactured to the ASME VIII pressure vessel code. This is a globally recognised boiler manufacturing standard. All of our boilers are also manufactured under an ISO 9001 quality management system. In addition, third party inspections, by a New Zealand Worksafe approved inspection body are also carried out to independently verify quality during and after the manufacturing process.
Our electrode boiler range is extremely efficient with efficiencies exceeding 99%. To benchmark this efficiency against fossil fuel fired boiler plant, a typical coal fired boiler could reach 70 – 80% gross efficiency, a typical gas fired boiler could reach 80 – 85% gross efficiency. Our electric boiler efficiency is far superior to that of fossil fuel fired boilers.
The superior triple layer insulation system on the electrode boilers comprises a high density insulation layer attached to the shell of the boiler. This is covered by a thick silver reflective blanket to reflect lost heat back inward, encompassed by a thick layer of fibre glass insulation, and then clad in an outer layer of stainless steel. This insulation provides extensive heat retention in the boiler vessel, minimising radiant and conductive losses to atmosphere, achieving exterior boiler surface temperatures as low as 25°C.
For steam boiler duties, we have designed a unique steam scrubbing system for our electrode boilers. This arrangement utilises demister pads to scrub the steam followed by chevrons to separate wet steam from dry steam. These systems are critical to prevent chemical carryover from the boiler into many sensitive processes often found in the dairy, food and pharmaceutical industries. Our steam scrubbing system is proven to achieve steam qualities in excess of 99.9%.
We offer large 600NB man doors on all our pressure vessels to allow for safe access. Our ladder and gallery platforms are well designed to provide excellent access to valving and instruments, and all our equipment is positioned to make servicing easy. Lifting frames and winches are often incorporated to allow heavy items to be safely removed for servicing when required.
We use only quality valves, pumps and instruments on our electrode boilers. Our installations are constantly setting new industry innovation benchmarks for others to follow.
Our market leading package boiler control system is modelled around a PLC with an HMI interface. This system allows all controls to be monitored and trending logged for ease of measuring performance and troubleshooting. We use only the best instruments and controls in our systems. All our boiler control systems are design verified and approved by Worksafe for unattended operation.
